UAE Travel Diary Part 2/2: Dubai

I hope you guys enjoyed part 1 of my travel diary and are excited to see the 2nd part.  To be honest, Dubai was much more exciting for me than Abu Dhabi.  Before this trip, I was anticipating that I would like Abu Dhabi more, as I had heard that it was more culturally rich and that Dubai was more about the glitz and luxury.  In the end, there was just something about Dubai that I really loved, but I'm so grateful that I had the experience of visiting both.

(the world's tallest building, the Burj Dubai- in photo 2 you can see the water show that goes on at night, and the last photo was taken from the Burj Dubai's observation deck)




(My favorite part: the souks- always better for me than the malls.  I always love the unique items that souks offer versus the mass-produced mall items)

(Lastly, I had to include a photo of the Sanrio store- it's fun to see it written in Arabic! :)

  14. First off can I just say how sweet a couple you and Mr Handy make (My Handy? Okay that just sounds wrong, but I figured he deserves that name after seeing the sweet stuff he's made for you). I love these photos taken inside the souks. When it comes to the UAE all you ever really see is external shots or pictures of the cityscape. Never really much photos of interiors and the day-to-day. I hope you came home with trunks of treasures.

    1. hahah I love the nickname you gave him, Jenee! He would probably appreciate it more than the ones I gave him!!! The souks are definitely my favorite part as well. I always bring an empty suitcase when traveling...but this time, I actually didn't use it!! I couldn't believe it, but I got small things. :)

    1. LOL well of course! All of the Sanrio stores actually had the Liberty of London collection stuff which we didn't get here in the states (and of course the prices are insane on ebay) so I bought some pieces from that. Other than that, not really because the prices in general which much higher than in the US.

  50. You guys went to the Madinat Jumeirah - I love that place! I know essentially it's a mall, but it's got a really nice old world feel to it.
